Our mission to share the African American story positively impacts the socio-economic health of children by providing a fuller, more complex narrative and image about the African American experience and community. We currently serve 3,107 students at 74 schools, and have 143 programs.

As the heart of the Gateway Arts District, we believe that we have an obligation to the community to promote collaboration, engage unlikely allies in dialogue and encourage participation in the creative process. We recognize the diversity of experience within the African American community and aim to reflect the broad spectrum of social and cultural activities of this community.

The Prince George’s African American Museum and Cultural Center is recognized nationally and internationally for its innovative approach to the documentation, interpretation, preservation, and presentation of local and regional African American history.
