>Bonus Augmented Reality Experience! Take a Tour of ‘Black Broadway on U: Echoes of an Era’, an interactive pop-up exhibit, that guides visitors through a historical journey of Washington, D.C. storied black U Street community, once known as “Black Broadway” during the early to mid-twentieth century. Visitors can use a mobile app to reveal augmented reality content and experience eye-to-eye storytelling that traces the rich cultural, heritage and achievement of this prestigious neighborhood’s institutions and changemakers from iconic entertainers to educators, to trailblazing business leaders and heroes of the civil rights movement. Launched by multigenerational Washingtonian and award-winning producer/storyteller, Shellée M. Haynesworth, the Black Broadway on U Project, a living digital history project, curates and chronicles DC’s storied black U Street community at the intersection of black storytelling and immersive technology.
