Voices From The Diaspora
Voices from the Diaspora: The Afro-Latino Experience in Prince George’s County is the newest exhibition featured at the Prince George’s African American Museum’s Gallery 110. The exhibit features the art and artifacts of self-identified Afro-Latino artists who are connected to Prince George’s County.
The exhibition is part of a series that the museum will present over the next 3 years exploring the African diaspora in Prince George’s County. This exhibition will focus on the contemporary Afro-Latino experience and issues of identity, beliefs, music and what it means to be Afro-Latino. The exhibit will include artifacts, art, photography and music featuring work from Wilfredo Valladares, Lázaro Batista, Maria Saldaña, Sami Miranda, and Andy Torres.
The exhibit will feature an interactive map and a video presentation; the entire text of the exhibition will be in English and Spanish. Programs from the exhibition will include discussions, lectures, events for kids and families, and much more.
