Blazz: Works on Blues and Jazz by Ulysses Marshall
Curated by Jon West-Bey, Blazz: Works on Blues and Jazz by Ulysses Marshall, is about the historical relationship between the African American experience and the two musical art forms blues and jazz.
Using his signature “paper doll” style, Marshall inserts his own experiences growing up in rural Georgia into these pieces making this a personal series yet simultaneously exposing universal humanistic themes.
The exhibition was on view at the Prince George’s African American Museum and Cultural Center until September 30th 2014.
