AFRICAN-ASIATIC WOMAN: A Collection by Sonja Meltonramesar
AFRICAN-ASIATIC WOMAN
A Collection by Sonja Meltonramesar
Sonja Meltonramesar is a mixed-media artist living in Prince George’s County but originally from Berkeley, California. Her work explores her complex, multi-ethnic background which includes African-American, south Asian Indian and indigenous American.
The works in this collection, African-Asiatic Woman, both investigate and honor the historical, visceral, philosophical and spiritual experience of being an African-Asiatic woman. Through this visual exploration, the artist ultimately expands the historically narrow definitions of being African-American and reveals wider, lesser-known truths about our vast actuality.
The exhibition is on view from July 1, 2014 until August 30th 2014.
